Greater Jakarta: Fitri Aulia, '€˜Spider Kid'€™, killed by train

OUTH TANGERANG: Fitri Aulia, 14, who became known as '€˜Spider Kid'€™ as a result of her odd hobby of climbing high towers, has died after being hit by a train near Pondok Ranji station, South Jakarta.

South Tangerang Police spokesman Adj. Comr. Matsuri said the train struck Fitri, better known as Pipit, after she fell onto the railway line.

'€œShe had apparently climbed a structure before she fell and was killed by the train,'€ said Matsuri as quoted by Tempo.co.

Matsuri further said the police had offered to carry out an autopsy to fully determine the cause of Pipit'€™s death but the family had declined.

Pipit'€™s mother Sumarni, 49, said that some people had beaten Pipit up shortly before she died. According to her, they beat Pipit because she had climbed on top of someone'€™s car.

She explained that Pipit had complained about severe pains on her head and body. However, when Sumarni was about to take her to a clinic, Pipit ran to the railway track near her house.

'€œI chased after her but she suddenly fell and died,'€ Sumarni said.

She declined to elaborate further on the people who had beaten up Pipit.

Pipit had become famous in recent years for climbing high towers, mostly high-voltage towers, often she refused to come back down unless bystanders offered her money.
