AKARTA: At least 25,000 scouts are expected to join the national scouting jamboree at the Cibubur camping ground in Bogor, West Java, later this year.
Indonesian Scout Movement (ISM) chair Adhyaksa Dault held a meeting with President Joko 'Jokowi' on Friday to brief him on the plan.
The jamboree will coincide with the 55th anniversary of the ISM.
Adhyaksa said that during the event, a number of key ministers would attend and give speeches on contemporary issues.
'[Participants] will also be given courses on the creative economy, which will allow them to start their own business. Then they won't have to look for jobs in the civil service,' Adhyaksa told reporters after the meeting.
Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, who was also present at the meeting between Adhyaksa and Jokowi, said the President supported the plan and was ready to help finance the event.
Imam said that he would work with the Finance Ministry regarding funding for the program, the cost of which is expected to reach Rp 60 billion (US$4 million).
Currently, the organizing committee has collected Rp 35 billion in funding for the event. A month before the event kicks off, President Jokowi is expected to inspect the camping ground.
