The Youth and Sports Ministry is set to hand over a report to President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo on the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) as part of a move to repeal the suspension imposed on the PSSI since April last year.
Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi stressed, however, that Jokowi had not definitively decided to overturn the PSSI suspension.
During a meeting with Jokowi, Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Ad Hoc Committee on PSSI Reformation chairman Agum Gumelar at the State Palace on Wednesday, the President instructed Imam to conduct a comprehensive study to look at all of aspects of revocation.
The President had also, Imam said, instructed the ministry to facilitate the implementation of soccer competitions and tournaments, both professional and amateur.
"The ministry is still reviewing [the revocation plan]. Whatever the outcome, we will certainly report to the President within one or two days," Imam said at the State Palace on Thursday.
The government suspended the management of the PSSI following a lengthy internal dispute. As a result of the suspension, Indonesian teams were banned by world governing body FIFA from participating in any international soccer competition. (bbn)(+)
