After canceling a meeting with Sting on Saturday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo reportedly sent the famous English singer a gift of luwak (civet) coffee and a sarong.

The gift was delivered to Sting by Presidential chief of staff Teten Masduki and rock band Slank'€™s guitarist Abdee Negara on Sunday.

"I gave [the gift] to Sting when I met him at the international Java Jazz Festival in Kemayoran," Teten said as quoted by kompas.com.

The singer was reportedly grateful for the present, adding that he would wear the sarong on the plane during his trip home to the UK.

During the meeting, Teten also passed on a message from Jokowi, saying that the President highly valued the Rainforest Foundation, a global non-profit environmental organization founded by Sting that aims to save forests and protect indigenous people living in forest areas around the world.

Previously, Jokowi was scheduled to meet Sting on Saturday at the State Palace before the singer took to the stage at the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival with American trumpet player Chris Botti.

However, Jokowi canceled the meeting because of preparations for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit, taking place from Sunday to Monday in Jakarta, according to Presidential communications team member Ari Dwipayana.

Sting, born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, was one of the highlights of this year's Java Jazz Festival, held from March 4 to 6 at the JIExpo Kemayoran venue in Central Jakarta. (afr/kes)
