Thousands of music lovers enjoyed a steady stream of live performances from their favorite musicians during the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2016 from March 4 to 6. Entering its 12th year, the three-day event continued its consistent offerings of jazz and various other musical genres to its audiences.
The festival, known by many simply as Java Jazz, featured around 100 local and international musicians who performed on 11 stages. Local acts such as Endah N Rhesa, Elfa's Singers, Dian Pramana Putra and Raisa attracted throngs of spectators, who also looked forward to shows from big international names.
During the festival, American RnB crooner Robin Thicke gave a special performance, while seasoned music producer David Foster played alongside a number of musicians, including local singer Lea Simanjuntak and Dutch songstress Berget Lewis. Meanwhile, Grammy Award winning trumpeter Chris Botti collaborated with Sting to wrap up the musical fiesta with nostalgic tunes.
A group of 11 renowned Indonesian jazz musicians such as Margie Segers, Yance Manusama and guitarist Jopie Item paid tribute to jazz legend Ireng Maulana, who died from a heart attack in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
