Through her brand, Pureline Living, Michelle Nathania specializes in interior furniture design and often collaborates with local artisans to produce a new collection annually. Michelle is showcasing at the fair her favorite chairs collection, which she thinks best describes her brand.
Michelle said her participation in the fair began when IFFS offered her the opportunity and asked her to send a portfolio. After a couple of weeks, the committee informed her that she would be invited under the Design STARS Showcase.
"I am excited, surprised and nervous; all at the same time. It has pushed me to bring my brand to another level â from being a local brand to becoming an international one,â the Pelita Harapan University graduate told thejakartapost.com via email.

A 26-year-old Indonesian is among 19 international designers that have been picked to be featured at the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) on March 10-13.

She said that every country had their own specific materials that are regularly used, which later diversified the products they produced.
"Indonesian preferences are mostly influenced by the materials available like teak, mahogany, sungkai; which I usually use. The materials used will affect the character of the product, namely design, color and taste,' she said.
Situated at the Singapore Expo, the fair features furniture products by designers from all over the world including Indonesia, France, India, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK and US. (kes)(+)
