Yogyakarta ska band Shaggydog held a mini concert in Jakarta prior to its performance at the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.
'Thank you for your support, we'll be traveling to the US tomorrow,' said Shaggydog frontman Heruwa before kicking the show off with the band's first song, 'Rudy Story', at the Rolling Stone Cafe in South Jakarta on Friday night.
When 'Jalan-jalan' and 'Di Sayidan' were played, the venue quickly turned into a dance floor with all the audience singing along.
'We want more!' the audience screamed after Shaggydog performed their seventh and last song for the night.
Among them was Shaggydog fan Natal Budi, who said he thoroughly enjoyed the mini concert.
'I also got to meet other fans of Shaggydog, including the members of a Vespa community who had come all the way from other parts of the city,' said Natal.

The band is scheduled to perform on March 17 and 19 at SXSW as the only representative from Indonesia. For a duration of 40 minutes, the band is set to perform nine to 10 songs, including some from its latest album that will only be released at the festival.
Heruwa said the group would spend at least ten days in the US and had prepared some merchandise to be distributed to the crowds.
Founded in 1997 and having previously toured Holland and Australia, Shaggydog is keen to introduce its music to a wider audience at the SXSW festival.
Launched in 1987, SXSW offers a unique convergence of music, film and emerging technologies. The festival set itself as a launch pad for innovative content with new media presentations, music showcases and film screenings; providing exposure for creators and compelling entertainment for people attending the event.
Popular bands and acts such as Metallica, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Prince, Lionel Richie, Bruce Springsteen, Norah Jones, Iggy Pop, Green Day and Johnny Cash as well as Indonesian's The SIGIT and White Shoes And The Couple Company have played at the SXSW music festival.
Bands invited to the event reportedly received one-on-one mentoring from well-known peers in the industry and attend workshops. (kes)
