sperm whale was found dead, stranded on the beach at Batu Tumpeng, Klungkung regency in Bali on Monday.
A local fisherman found the 16-meter long and around 50-ton heavy mammal at around 3 a.m. in the morning.
A joint team of Bali's Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and the Klungkung Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) decided to bury the carcass near the beach.
Klungkung resort head of BKSDA Gusti Putu Warna suspected that the sperm whale had died before being washed up on the beach. 'The whale may come from the Indian Ocean, but we cannot determine what caused its death,' Warna said.
