Europe remains a favorite destination for Indonesian travelers, a Gulf carrier's country manager said on Tuesday.

High connectivity and lower traveling times to reach the continent's popular cities are among the sought-after benefits, according to Qatar Airways (QA) country manager for Indonesia, Ramdas Shivram, as reported by kompas.com.

For example, QA now offers a journey of less than 16-hours  -- including less than an hour's transit in Doha -- for Indonesian travelers traveling from Jakarta to Barcelona, Paris or London.

QA currently operates a Boeing 787 Dreamliner for one of its three daily flights from Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and two Boeing 777 aircraft for its two daily flights from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport.

As part of its market expansion in Asia, the airline plans to add more medium- and long-haul routes and flight frequency including to Birmingham in England, Adelaide in Australia, Atlanta in the US, Nice in France, Yerevan, Marrakech in Morocco, Helsinki and Sarajevo.

During Tuesday's event, QA officially launched a new campaign dubbed "Going Places Together", which included a screening of a flight safety video featuring FC Barcelona soccer players. (nov/kes) (+)
