ngineering giant Siemens on Monday inked a deal with state electricity company PLN for the development of a 500 megawatt (MW) power plant and power transmission network.
“Siemens is ready to support Indonesia’s ambitious infrastructure program. With our varied portfolio and expertise, we can help in developing a modern, affordable and sustainable electricity system,” Siemens managing board member Roland Busch said in a statement on Tuesday.
Busch added that the company could also offer support based on its expertise in project financing as well as developing manufacturing in Indonesia.
Siemens has supported infrastructure development in Indonesia with its innovative technologies for decades. The German company was also involved in the development of the Paiton II power plant in East Java and the construction of an electricity transmission network in Sumatra.
The company employs 1,500 people in Indonesia. Last year, Siemens Indonesia booked sales worth ¤263 million.
