resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to fly to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Friday to check on the development and revitalization of traditional markets in the eastern region.
Jokowi called for the improvement of traditional markets in June last year during the launch of a program encompassing 1,000 traditional markets, held at Manis Market in Purwokerto, Central Java. The revitalization aims to address physical problems as well as managerial issues, including accountability and financial management.
“The most important thing is well-ordered traders, mutual assistance and buyers trading more comfortably," the President said as quoted by the presidential communications team on Friday.
The President and First Lady Iriana Widodo left Jakarta from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport bound for Lombok International Airport, NTB, on the presidential aircraft.
They are later scheduled to proceed to Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin Airport in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, on a CN-295 aircraft. In Bima, Jokowi will inaugurate Amahami Market.
After the opening of the market, Jokowi and his entourage will continue on to Sentani Airport to attend the inauguration of the 2016 Indonesian Soccer Championship (ISC) in Jayapura, Papua.
Persipura Jayapura will play in the ISC opening match against Persija Jakarta during the event. (ags)
