G

overnor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is still the most popular candidate and will not be defeated by the other gubernatorial hopefuls, according to a Cyrus Network survey.

In the survey, Ahok is simulated head-to-head against former justice and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra, businessman Sandiaga Uno, former youths and sports minister Adhyaksa Dault, Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil or Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini.

In comparison to the other candidates, Ahok’s electability was mostly over 60 percent, except when against Ridwan Kamil he was 57.1 percent and was 57.9 percent when he was against Risma, said Cyrus Network managing director Eko Dafid Afianto in Jakarta, as reported by kompas.com on Saturday

The other results showed that when head-to-head against Yuzril, Adhyaksa, Djarot and Sandiaga, Ahok was simulated to win with figures of 60.3, 60.3, 61.9 and 60 percent, respectively.

The survey was conducted by interviewing 1,000 respondents from across Jakarta with a multistage random sampling method. The survey's confident level and margin of error are respectively 95 percent and 3.1 percent.

Ahok is the only candidate who has declared himself as an independent candidate for the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, while others are still waiting for nomination by political parties. (bbn)
