T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has said that its investigators do not find corruption in the acquisition of land in West Jakarta from the Sumber Waras Hospital by the city administration in 2014.

“Our investigators do not find any unlawful acts in the Sumber Waras case,” KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo said on Tuesday on the sidelines of a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission III, which oversees legal affairs, as reported by tribunnews.com.

Therefore, the KPK would not continue investigating the case, he added. Four other KPK commissioners – Alexander Marwata, Saut Situmorang, Laode Muhammad Syarif and Basaria Panjaitan -- attended the hearing with Commission III.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama expressed his gratitude to the KPK, saying that the institution had worked professionally.

The KPK questioned Ahok on April 12 as a witness. The KPK investigation was based on a report of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) about the city's acquisition of 3.7 hectares of land adjacent to the Sumber Waras hospital in West Jakarta for a cardiac and cancer center.

The BPK said the price had been inflated and the land should have been purchased for the same taxable value of property (NJOP) as surrounding buildings. The city administration purchased the land in 2014 for Rp 775.69 billion, while, according to the BPK report, the city could have paid Rp 564.35 billion. (bbn)
