he city administration plans to skip the bidding process for the electronic road pricing (ERP) project in a bid to prevent it from becoming a trial project for technology companies.
The administration wants the process to be skipped after Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama expressed his concern about the technology to be used.
“I want to use technology used by developed countries and it has proven excellent for many years,” Ahok said at City Hall on Monday. “We cannot let foreign companies test their new technology in Jakarta. I don’t want to use anything new. We don’t want to bear the risks.”
He added that as such, the administration had assigned the Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) to carry out comparative studies with countries already applying ERP systems.
