ogor Police have raided a luxury house inside the Villa Duta housing complex on Jl. Kingkilaban, East Bogor, West Java, and arrested 31 illegal migrants, alleged to be from China.
Bogor Police Chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Herindra, said on Tuesday that the 31 foreigners, 22 men and nine women, were arrested on Monday night after the police received reports from locals claiming that they had noticed suspicious activity.
He said that the foreign nationals had breached the Immigration Law, as indicated by a failure to show legal documents, adding that the Police were investigating the possibility that the group may have been involved in cyber fraud.
“We have seized dozens of cellular phones, computers and other electronic devices as evidence,” he was quoted by tribunnews.com as saying.
Bogor Immigration Office chief Herman Lukman said that the Chinese nationals are suspected of having resided at the house for five months, adding that the group were currently being questioned at his office.
“They have failed to show the required immigration documents. We will leave it to the National Police to investigate the motive behind their alleged activities,” he said.
