The extra counters have been open since July 6, the first day of Idul Fitri, PT KAI Commuter Line Jabodetabek officer Arif said on Friday. The company plans to keep open the extra counters, located at the exit of Bogor station, until Monday, in addition to the eight existing ticket vending machines at the station. It is hoped the extra counters will shorten ticket lines.
As many as 80,445 passengers passed through the station on Wednesday. The number rose to 132,242 on Thursday, according to PT KAI's data. During normal days, around 80,000 passengers pass through Bogor station.
As of 5 p.m. on Friday, 83,918 passengers had arrived at Bogor station.
Bogor is one of the preferred holiday destinations of those living in cities nearby, including Jakarta. Dubbed the City of Rain, Bogor is the home of the Bogor Botanical Garden and Bogor Presidential Palace. The city, around 1.5 hours' train ride from Jakarta, also offers a variety of culinary experiences for visitors. (rin)
