resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo expressed his condolences to the victims of the attacks in Nice, France, through his personal Twitter account on Friday.
"The attacks in France were very cruel. Indonesia is united in solidarity. Condolences to the victims and the people of France - Jkw," he posted on his twitter feed at 2:30 p.m.
The attacks occurred as residents of Nice celebrated Bastille Day or French independence day which falls on July 14.
A large truck plowed through revelers gathered to watch fireworks, killing at least 84 people and sending others fleeing into the sea as it bore down for more than a mile along the Riviera city's famed waterfront promenade.
The driver was killed by police and no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which rocked a nation still dealing with the aftermath of the two attacks in Paris last year that killed a total of 147 people. (ary)
