he Kerinci Legislative Council (DPRD) is discussing whether its deputy speaker Adi Purnomo, who has been reported to the police for alleged sexual misconduct, will face dismissal.
“The process continues. So far, we’ve held a hearing,” ethics board chairman Subastian Ismail said on Tuesday.
If Adi is proven to have committed sexual misconduct, sanctions will be handed down, including possible dismissal.
“We plan to hold another session to hear testimony from a second witness, namely a village official, who will be present at the meeting on Aug. 10,” said Ismail.
“Sanctions will depend on the decision reached in the ethics board hearing. If the board decides that Adi Purnomo committed a serious violation, he could be dismissed from the council leadership,” he added.
The case was reported in October last year by Ipe Perdamaian, the husband of Sukasih, who was allegedly raped by Adi. However, the charges were changed to alleged adultery between Adi and Sukasih. After a lengthy investigation, Adi and Sukasih were named suspects by Kerinci Police investigators in June.
