trainer Cessna crashed in a paddy field in Kujang village, Karangnunggal, Tasikmalaya, on Thursday at about 3:30 p.m., leaving two, including the pilot, in critical condition.
Villagers took the two injured to a nearby health community center (puskesmas). Tasikmalaya Regent Uu Ruzhanul Ulum confirmed the accident.
“I heard a report from village and district officials that a trainer Cessna crashed in a paddy field. I’m on my way there,” Uu was quoted as saying by kompas.com Thursday afternoon.
According to the report, Uu went on, the villagers saw a white aircraft hit a coconut tree. After hitting the tree, the aircraft crashed to the ground and upended.
Locals quickly approached to check for survivors. “At first the villagers said they were afraid there would be an explosion, but there wasn’t one. They saved the two people,” said Uu.
Onlookers swarmed to the site while police and military personnel secured the area. (evi)
