he South Tangerang Police have apprehended two suspected counterfeit money dealers who they say often operate around South Tangerang and Depok.
South Tangerang Police spokesperson Adj. Comr. Mansuri said on Tuesday that both suspects — Yanto and Rosyid — used the fake bank notes at various food stalls and grocery stores that did not have money scanner machines.
“We confiscated Rp 100,000 [US$7.50] and Rp 50,000 bank notes with a total value of Rp 45 million,” he said, adding that the police had been investigating the case since Friday.
He said the money was confiscated at Yanto’s house in Ciledug, Tangerang, on Monday while Rosyid was nabbed in Depok.
“We also confiscated fake bank note-making equipment, including a printer, ink and paint,” he said, adding that the police would investigate the case further.
