JAKARTA: The action drama Headshot received a standing ovation after its premier screening at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend
AKARTA: The action drama Headshot received a standing ovation after its premier screening at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend.
The two-hour movie was screened in the Midnight Madness session at midnight on Friday with a queue of 1,300 invitees waiting to get into the Ryerson Theater, according to the release made available by the film production house Screenplay Infinite Films on Monday.
“I’ve never experienced this, especially at an international premier,” said Chelsea Islan, one of the cast members attending the screening. “I’m touched by their enthusiasm.”
The choreography has been acclaimed by film critics from The Playlist, The Hollywood News and weblog Film Combat Syndicate.
It follows Ishmael (Iko Uwais), who is being treated for amnesia by a young doctor Ailin (Chelsea), in his escape from murder attempts launched by a mafia boss (Sunny Pang) in the course of which he recalls his memories.
The film will travel to L’Estrange Festival Paris and other international festivals before screening at home in December. — JP
