errari Jakarta unveiled the new 488 Spider at Plaza Indonesia shopping mall on Wednesday, replacing the previous 458 Spider model, which ceased production last year.
The car made its global debut in December 2015 but production of right-hand drive versions usually begins six to seven months after the left-hand drive type.
"Some customers have already placed their orders. They will be made at the Maranello factory and will arrive after six months, including one-month shipping time from Italy to Jakarta," said Ferrari Jakarta CEO Arie Christopher.
Spider is a codename for convertible. Ferrari has made the cars’ roofs using an aluminum construction with a weight of just 25 kilograms, compared to 40 kg in the previous model. The engine is 3.9 liters, smaller than the 4.5 liters in the previous model, but Ferrari said the application of turbo increased the power to 670 PS from a previous 570 PS.
"The customer can choose personalized options on the seats, interior, rims and other items with the Carrozzeria Scaglietti program. But if that’s not enough, you can go further with a tailor-made program," Arie added.
Customers who want a tailor-made Ferrari have to visit the Maranello headquarters and discuss the personalization with designers. A tailor-made Ferrari takes longer to finish — a year or more, Arie said. (evi)
