tate-owned hotel enterprises PT Hotel Indonesia Natour, PT Patrajasa, and PT Aero Wisata have consolidated hotel chain operations under the name of Hotel Indonesia Group (HIG), in a step toward state-owned hotel holding.

Hotel Indonesia Natour President Director Iswandi Said said the holding's legal entity had not actually been created yet as the government is currently still studying whether to create a new company for holding or choose one of the existing companies like in energy (Pertamina as holding) or the plantation (PTPN III as holding) sector.

"It is a bit complicated because Patrajasa and Aero Wisata are subsidiaries of Pertamina and Garuda Indonesia, not directly owned by the government. So before the holding is created, we consolidate the management first," Iswandi told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

After consolidation, the companies will standardize management and reorganize the hotels according to segments. Currently, they have 26 hotels; 12 are owned by Hotel Indonesia Natour, seven by Patrajasa and the remaining seven by Aero Wisata.

"We will officially launch the holding on Sept. 28. On that date, we will be joined by PT Pegadaian's Pesonna Hotel, which owns nine hotels, and Manohara Resort, owned by PT Taman Wisata Candi," he added.

The vision is to unite the government’s hotel groups as a world-class player like Accor Group (France) and Hyatt (US). All of the hotels will have the 'Hotel Indonesia Group' logo under their corporate logo after consolidation. (evi)
