F

ormer education and culture minister and Jakarta gubernatorial hopeful Anies Baswedan revealed his vision for Jakarta after speaking at Ideafest 2016 in Jakarta on Saturday.

“We want to make Jakarta a better city, a city that makes people happier, a city that protects and makes people more prosperous,” Anies said on the sidelines of Ideafest 2016 as quoted by Antara news agency.

Ideafest is an annual creative festival that claims it "inspires and connects creative communities to collaborate".

He refused to elaborate on his vision for the future of Jakarta, saying he was focusing on the registration process with the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD).

Anies and running mate Sandiaga Uno underwent health checks as part of registration  requirements at the Dr. Mintohardjo Navy Hospital. Two other candidate pairs, incumbent Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni, also underwent checkups in the morning.

“My focus is to make sure that I fulfill all the requirements until the candidacy is final and confirmed,” Anies said. (evi)
