Cessna Caravan PK-LTV operated by PT Asian One crash-landed at Ilaga Airport in Puncak Papua on Thursday, forcing local authorities to shut down the airport for several hours.
No casualties were reported in the accident. The aircraft allegedly landed in the middle of the runway and eventually skidded off before falling on its side.
“There were no casualties in the incident,” Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. Paulus Waterpauw said in Jayapura on Thursday.
The aircraft flown by pilot Capt. Jaron Burhani and copilot Adj. Comr. Stefanus took off from Moses Kilangin Airport in Timika, Mimika, carrying foods. No passengers were aboard the plane.
The foggy weather allegedly prevented the pilot from having a clear view of the runway as the aircraft landed in the middle of the strip.
