couple suspected of killing a police officer in Bali, Briton David James Taylor and his Australian girlfriend Sara Connor, are now waiting for their trial as the Denpasar Police have handed over their case dossiers to the Denpasar Prosecutor’s Office.
Denpasar Police chief Sr. Comr. Hadi Purnomo told reporters on Monday that the police had finally completed the documents after a short delay caused by the two-week long wait for the results of blood tests by their forensic laboratory.
“All of the dossiers have been completed and we handed them over to the prosecutors today, along with the two suspects and all evidence,” he said.
Accompanied by their lawyers, Taylor and Connor were taken from police custody to the prosecutor’s office to complete administrative matters. They will be detained in Kerobokan prison before their trial begins next month.
The evidence includes the motorcycle rode by the suspects during the incident, their blood-stained clothes, a broken bottle they allegedly used to attack the victim and the victim's cellular phone and ID card.
Connor and Taylor were arrested two days after the severely wounded body of local policeman Adj. Second Insp. Wayan Sudarsa was found on Kuta Beach in the early hours of Aug. 17.
They will both be charged with murder, which carries a maximum 15-year jail term, violence causing death which carries a 12-year maximum term and assault causing death with a seven-year maximum. (ebf)
