The plane crashed about two minutes after takeoff. There were no fatalities, but instructor pilot Capt. Victor Chachon and student Rahin Chandra Sura were injured and underwent treatment at the Cilacap General Hospital.
Based on information from the airport, the crashed aircraft was a Piper Warrior PA-28 owned by the flying school. The crash was reportedly caused by engine trouble.
Airport manager Faizal M. told the media he had not received a full report related to the chronology of the crash. Based on a preliminary report, the plane experienced a stalled engine then crashed.
“At the moment, I cannot explain the cause of the crash in detail as we are still studying the chronology of the incident. We will hold an internal meeting first to discuss the incident,” Faizal told the media on Wednesday.
He said the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) was the authorized body to conduct analysis on the cause of the accident.
