he East Java Prosecutor’s Office has named Dahlan Iskan, the former minister of state-owned enterprises, a suspect of graft over the sale of assets from a company owned by the province of East Java.
Dahlan, the former president director of the company in question, PT. Panca Wira Usaha (PWU), was detained on Thursday.
He expressed no surprise over his arrest.
"I am not surprised about this, because, as you know, I have been targeted by those in power," Dahlan, who served as minister in the administration of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, was reported as saying by kompas.com.
He denied committing the alleged corruption, explaining that he only signed a document provided by his subordinates during his term as a president director of the company from 2000 to 2010.
He was named a suspect after being questioned since 9 a.m. in a fifth questioning session by prosecutors. He was seen walking out from the prosecutor’s office in the evening.
The prosecutor’s office has also named Dahlan’s former subordinate, Wisnu Wardhana, who served as the asset manager of PT. PWU, for allegedly selling 33 assets owned by the province-owned company. (rin)
