Dimo Pay seeks new partners for payment

D

igital payment service Dimo Pay Indonesia has expanded its partnership scope to include vendors in the lifestyle category, pairing up with Kawan Lama Retail and fellow financial technology firm Kartuku to further grow QR-code based payments.

The partnership enables users of e-money applications — such as Smartfren’s Uangku, Indosat Ooredoo’s Dompetku and Telkom’s T-Money — to use the QR-based payment system at Kawan Lama Retail’s various retailers, namely Informa, Ace Hardware and Toys Kingdom.

Kartuku’s role in the partnership is served through the provision of electronic data capture (EDC) machines to process QR-code payments at the Kawan Lama’s retailers. Dimo Pay Indonesia marketing director Jasmina Nashya said the company was looking to help Indonesian consumers shift their spending habits toward digital payment methods.

At the same time, the country is benefiting from the millennial generation, who are the most in tune with digital processes. “The benefits of cashless payments are vast, but they are still in an introductory phase at the moment. With this partnership, it enables Dimo Pay to integrate its agnostic technology into other existing payment platforms and create more awareness about cashless payments,” she said on Tuesday.

The partnership is also part of DimoPay’s efforts to veer into another segment of vendors, which have previously been dominated by the food and beverage sector. The company plans to expand its range to include entertainment and transportation vendors in the future.

Kawan Lama Retail marketing director Nana Puspa Dewi said it hoped the partnership would pave the way for many of Kawan Lama’s customers to use the cashless payment system to simplify their transactions. At present, Kawan Lama Retail has 350 different vendors across 33 cities.

In expanding its range of operations, Dimo Pay will also partner with state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in a number of segments, starting with a credit card redemption program and an e-wallet project. Other future partners that it will work with include state lender Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), in a partnership to be announced sometime in December.

Jasmina said its services were still mainly used in the Greater Jakarta area, but a partnership with Telkom had made the services available in Bandung and Yogyakarta as well.

Dimo Pay currently processes up to 3,000 transactions per day through its partner apps.
