achmawati Soekarnoputri, the daughter of the country’s first president, Sukarno, has been arrested over alleged treason, according to her lawyer.
“Yes, she has been arrested. Police officers arrived at her home at 5 a.m. and took her at 6 a.m.,” Rachmawati’s lawyer Aldwin Rahardian said on Friday, as reported by kompas.com.
Aldwin said he was accompanying his client, who was being questioned at the National Police Mobile Brigade headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.
Besides Rachmawati, Alwin also saw musician Ahmad Dhani questioned at the headquarters.

Dhani was reportedly arrested along with other activists, including Ratna Sarumpaet and Sri Bintang Pamungkas, at a hotel on Jl. MH. Thamrin in Central Jakarta on Thursday night.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar confirmed on Friday that eight activists had been arrested for alleged treason. (jun)
