akarta gubernatorial candidate Anies Baswedan and his running mate Sandiaga Uno are set to hold a series of gala dinners to finance their campaign activities.
Sandiaga said he planned to hold a string of gala dinners at three-star hotels across Jakarta to collect campaign funds before Christmas, with tickets going for Rp 1 million (around US$75) per person, he further said.
“We will hold these gala dinners as often as possible. I expect that we can collect around Rp 300 to 400 million per gala dinner," Sandiaga said at his campaign secretariat on Jl. Cicurug, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday.
The businessman further said that he and Anies planned to offer courses to raise funds. “Anies will give motivational classes while I will offer entrepreneurship classes. Tickets for the program will be sold at Rp 100,000 or Rp 200,000 per person," he said.
On Thursday, Sandiaga revealed that from October through November, the candidate pair had spent Rp 19.03 billion on their campaign.
Sandiaga claimed that he had covered Rp 17.2 billion of the total expenses, while Anies had only spent Rp 400 million.
Two parties endorsing the pair, the Gerindra Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), have contributed Rp 750 million and Rp 350 million, respectively. A company, which remains anonymous, has reportedly contributed Rp 360 million to the pair’s campaign coffers. (ebf)
