S

tate-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina has launched Pertamina d’Gil, a competition on business ideas, breakthroughs and innovations in the renewable energy sector for students, professionals and corporate workers.

The company says the competition, which runs from Dec. 7 to March 5, 2017, is aimed at increasing public participation to develop the country’s renewable energy sector, as renewables are commonly seen as an alternative solution to energy amid the growing demand for energy in the immediate future.

“With this competition, Pertamina will transform innovative ideas into a feasible business operation that could help replace the use of conventional energy sources,” Pertamina spokesperson Wianda Pusponegoro said in a statement released on Wednesday.

She added that the competition was divided into two main topics: Innovative Business Ideas and Product and Technology Breakthroughs.

Aspiring participants can submit their ideas on Pertamina d’Gil’s official website pertaminaidegila.com, before a panel of experts assess and evaluate their ideas to look for finalists in the competition.

The selected finalists will later be invited to join coaching clinics and mentoring sessions from Pertamina and experts. All winners will receive cash prizes worth a total of Rp 500 million (US$37,645). (adt/hwa)
