he Transportation Ministry has vowed to intensify its monitoring of pilots by teaming up with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to further ensure flight safety.
Ministry cooperation and public relations head Agoes Soebagio said pilots who were found to be using drugs, would not be allowed to fly again until they underwent thorough checks that declared they were clean.
"Pilots found using drugs in preliminary checks will be subject to intensive tests both at the Air Transportation Directorate General’s flight health center and the BNN," Agoes was quoted as saying by Antara on Wednesday.

The ministry will impose sanctions to pilots who are later still found to be positive for drug use.
The ministry's statement came in response to two Susi Air pilots found positive for drug use in their preliminary results on Wednesday following drug tests conducted by the Cilacap Narcotics Agency at Tunggul Wulung Airport in Cilacap, Central Java. The two pilots were brought to Jakarta for further questioning. (dmr)
