he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is ready to distribute 7.2 million ballot papers to five municipalities and Thousand Islands regency for the Feb. 15 gubernatorial election.
“The ballots have arrived in Jakarta. Today, we are unloading the ballots from the containers and will later distribute them to KPU offices in the municipalities and in Thousand Islands regency,” KPU Jakarta official M. Fadlilah said.
The five KPU offices are in Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta and West Jakarta.
The vessel carrying the ballot papers printed by printing company PT Adi Perkasa in Makassar, South Sulawesi, docked at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta on Monday morning.
Fadlilah said the ballots were shipped in containers. Personnel from the Jakarta Police will tightly guard the delivery of the ballots to the six KPU offices using several box cars, he added.
Fadlilah further explained that the ballots for KPU Central Jakarta would be delivered to its warehouse on Jl. Kalibaru Timur in Senen, while ballots for KPU South Jakarta would be placed in a storage facility on Jl. Kalibata Tengah, Pancoran.
Meanwhile, ballots for KPU East Jakarta will be delivered to a storage facility on Jl. Angkur No.16, Kayu Putih, Pulo Gadung. The ballots for KPU West Jakarta will be stored at KPU offices in Kelapa Dua Raya, Kebun Jeruk.
Fadlilah further said ballots for KPU North Jakarta would be delivered to KPU offices on Jl. Baru, Ancol Selatan, North Jakarta, while the ballots for KPU Thousand Islands would be transported to the Mitra Praja building in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. (ebf)
