he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) and app-based ride-sharing company Uber signed a memorandum of understanding (Mou) on Friday in a bid to boost people's awareness ahead of the Feb. 15 gubernatorial election.

Uber's head of public policy and government relations John Colombo said the company would realize the MoU by providing information regarding the election to its drivers and customers.
“Regardless the political parties and candidate tickets, we want to provide the information regarding the election through the content in our application, emails, social media and blog, so our drivers and customers will know how they can be registered and vote for Feb. 15,” Colombo said.
Uber is offering a 50 percent discount, with a maximum discount of Rp 30,000, (US$2.25), for three trips by filling out the UBERPILIH promotion code. The promotion applies to new customers from Feb. 3 until polling day.
Drivers and customers who vote can also participate in an Uber photo contest to win Uber credit worth Rp 500,000.
