Karanganyar Police chief Sr. Comr. Ade Safri said police would question 16 members of the orientation committee as witnesses on Tuesday. “The number of witnesses may increase. We will await the developments of the questioning tomorrow,” Ade said.

Meanwhile, members of the Yogyakarta Anti-Violence Community (Makaryo) staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the Mapala Unisi secretariat demanding the climbing club avoid violence and respect human rights.

“We ask the students to channel their energy against those destroying the environmental instead,” the group stated.

Mapala Unisi senior member Andi Reza said the club was also shocked that bullying had occurred during the orientation program. “There’s no violence in our standard operating procedure for the training,” he said.
