inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said the government would mainly target small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and professionals in the final round of the tax amnesty, which will end in late March.
The Directorate General of Taxation has carried out mapping to facilitate the work of tax officials and give the government a more accurate taxpayer database, Sri Mulyani said on Tuesday.
“This is the final round. We have disseminated information about the program to medium-level economic players and professionals,” said Sri Mulyani.
Head economist at Samuel Securities Lana Soelistianingsih agreed with Sri Mulyani, saying that the number of large Indonesian business players repatriating their wealth has declined in the third round as many of them had taken part in the first and second rounds.
“So in the third round, the government is focusing on a certain target. The government needs to prepare the human resources and strategy,” said Lana as reported by tribunnews.com
According to the Finance Ministry’s directorate general of taxation, repatriated funds during the first and second rounds reached Rp 141 trillion (US$10.57 billion), foreign declared assets Rp 1,015 trillion and domestic declared assets Rp 3,198 trillion. (bbn)
