akarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama apologized to victims of flooding in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon after his 11th hearing in his trial in South Jakarta.
"I express my apologies to residents of Jakarta. I can't work full time though I know they are suffering from flooding," Ahok said as quoted by tribunnews.com. He said he had to attend the hearing until 10:30 p.m.
He said he had instructed his subordinates to provide evacuees with hot water to make things easier for them, especially mothers of infants.
He also said the river normalization project in Jakarta would be continued to prepare for similar disasters in the future. (vny)
