tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has officiated a command center for the apron movement control (AMC) of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.

AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said the centralized control room was equipped with devices at all corners of the apron to facilitate AMC personnel in monitoring the movement of planes and to ensure security.

“The AMC command center is prepared to support the operation of Terminal 3 as an international terminal,” Awaluddin said in a statement on Monday, adding that Terminal 3 was the largest airport terminal in Indonesia and needed sophisticated equipment to support its operation.

The facilities at the commend center include information technology devices to arrange the movements on the apron. The center is also connected to a visual docking guidance system (VDGS) on the apron to guide planes that will be parked.

Awaluddin said the center would improve communication, coordination and control that would support the tower’s role in operating domestic and international flights.

“[With the commend center], the movement of planes on the Terminal 3 apron can be controlled maximally. We hope the flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will be smoother,” he added.

Awaluddin said with the facility, the airport operator wanted to improve the capacity of two runways at the airport to serve 86 flights per hour from 72 flights at present.  (bbn)
