Actress and filmmaker Olga Lidya is set to produce a biographical film of Indonesian boxing legend Ellyas Pical.
The idea was told to journalists during a visit by Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi and Olga to Ellyas’ residence in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday.
Ellyas, 56, was just released from Harapan Kita Hospital in Jakarta from intensified treatment after suffering a heart attack in mid-February. Indonesia's first world boxing champion is on a home treatment for recovery.
“We wanted to visit Ellyas [at his house] to make sure that he was regaining his health. Fortunately, he is looking good – he even looks younger,” said Imam in a statement, adding that he also carried a special message from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to seriously give attention to the country’s sports heroes.
Olga, who accompanied the minister during the visit, said she was in the process of bringing the biopic movie project into reality.
“We’re currently working closely with investors. Hopefully, the movie will be ready for premier right before the 2018 Asian Games [in Indonesia],” said Olga.
In response, Ellyas said he hoped he could recover immediately to join the project.
