ome Minister Tjahjo Kumolo reiterated that data recording for electronic identification (e-ID) cards would go on despite the ongoing corruption investigation into the national project.
“The e-ID project will go on as part of our service to the public. But we admit that the project has faced a lot of hindrances,” the minister said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
Tjahjo said the ministry had targeted to finish recording citizens’ data this year, ruling out the possibility of halting the project.
Previously, Tjahjo called on his subordinates in the ministry to assist the KPK in its investigation into the Rp 5.9 trillion (US$440 million) project, which has implicated former top ministry officials, including Tjahjo’s predecessor, Gamawan Fauzi.
