Islands focus: Murder case shocks prestigious school

A

student of the prestigious Taruna Nusantara high school in Magelang, Central Java, was found dead and covered in blood in his bed in the school’s dormitory on Friday morning.

The 15-year-old student, whose name was Krisna Wahyu Nurachmad, was found with a wound on his neck, Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Condro Kirono said.

“He was a 10th grade student. He was found in his bed with several wounds at 4 a.m.,” he told reporters on Friday.

The Central Java Police started the investigation by deploying the National Police’s forensic team from Semarang to the crime scene and questioning eight witnesses.

“The team found a knife in the bathroom that we suspect was used by the perpetrator to kill the victim. The team also found pants and shirts with blood stains in the garbage bin. We suspect those belonged to the perpetrators,” Condro said adding that Krisna’s body has been taken to Magelang Regional Hospital for an autopsy.

The Taruna Nusantara High School was established in 1990 to give students a semi-military education. The school is known to only take the top graduates from junior high schools across the country.

It is the first time a suspected murder has occurred in the school.
