bout 150 farmers from Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara, participated in a training program that provided knowledge regarding environmental preservation.
The training, which was held by a group of NGOs, taught the farmers about participatory rural appraisal methods that will enable each village to farm without overexploiting the forests.
“The training program has been running since October 2016 so farmers can help preserve the environment,” said Wahana Tani Mandiri- Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (WTM-CEPF) coordinator Herry Naif on Monday.
The farmers are taught to assess the areas surrounding the places they plan to cultivate.
Forest conservation is important in the regency, which is surrounded by forests, including those in Egon Ili Medo. (wit)
