P

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said that infrastructure development is on track, as more than 40 percent of the national strategic projects planned by his administration are now in the construction stage.

He also noted that 9 percent of the projects had been completed, while 5 percent were in the transaction stage and 37 percent were still in the planning stage.

"I also received reports that up to 7 percent [of the projects] have been proposed to be eliminated from the list," said Jokowi in his opening speech for a meeting on the national strategic projects in Jakarta on Wednesday.

There are 225 such projects nationwide, including projects for highways, non-toll roads, railway lines, urban trains, airport revitalization and airport development, port construction and the three phases of the One-Million-Homes program.

The projects are listed in Presidential Decree (Perpres) No. 3/2016 and Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 1/2016.

Since the beginning of the year, President Jokowi has held 22 meetings to discuss projects in each province with his relevant ministers and other stakeholders. (bbn)
