A fire broke out at Klender train station, East Jakarta, on Friday morning, injuring one person.

Gatot Sulaiman of the East Jakarta Fire Department said the fire, which was likely caused by an electrical short circuit in a janitor's room, started at 7:42 a.m.

"Fire engulfed facilities at Klender Lama Station," Gatot said as quoted by kompas.com.

At least 10 rooms were engulfed, including a storage room, rest rooms, the station master's office, a ticket box, a waiting room, a security room and the server room.

Riki Riana, 20, who was at the station during the incident, suffered injuries. Nine fire engines were deployed to extinguish the blaze.

Commuter Jabodetabek (KJC) spokesperson Eva Chairunisa said services on the commuter line serving Bekasi-Manggarai had been disrupted.

The passengers using the line should take alternative modes of transportation, she said. (cal/ebf)
