our women have been accused of abusing a teenage acquaintance inside a public minivan plying the Ciledug-Kebayoran route in Jakarta for writing an insulting Facebook status.
Tangerang Police in Banten said the women, identified as Dian, 17, Betharia, 19, Novita, 20, and Yulia, 21, allegedly attacked 14-year-old AP and burned her face with lit cigarettes and stripped her naked on Sunday evening.
Dian reportedly pressed a lit cigarette four times against the girl’s face and once on her back. Novita, Lia and Betharia then allegedly beat the victim.
AP’s lawyer, Isram, said on Thursday that AP had been traumatized by the attack. She was anxious, gloomy and did not want to leave her house.
"She is too scared to do her usual activities. She's afraid to leave her home," Isram said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
AP, who is an eight-grade student in junior high school, also did not want to go to school, he added.
The four women, who were arrested on Tuesday, have been charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code on collective assault. (cal)
