olkar Party ethics board deputy chairman Akbar Tandjung has said the party must support the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) efforts in the Reform Era.
“We must support the KPK as an antigraft institution to ensure our seriousness in eradicating corruption,” he said on the sidelines of Golkar’s national leadership meeting in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Monday.
Speaking in front of party members, Akbar said the party must position the KPK as the country’s pillar in the fight against corruption.

Akbar underlined the importance of law enforcement as one of most important elements in the Reform Era. He said the law should be based on truth and justice, and urged all party members to show their commitment to supporting the eradication of corruption.
Golkar’s respect to the KPK would show that the party was supportive of government branches, he added.
The KPK is investigating several corruption cases implicating high-ranking Golkar members. These include the e-ID corruption case, which has implicated dozens of House of Representative lawmakers, including Golkar chairman Setya Novanto.
The KPK also has named Golkar Youth Generation (AMPG) chairman Fahd El Fouz a suspect in a graft case related to Quran procurement at the Religious Affairs Ministry. (dis/ebf)
