he Kampung Melayu bus terminal and the surrounding area turned chaotic after at least two explosions struck one of Transjakarta's main bus rapid transit hubs in East Jakarta at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
The terminal is located in a densely populated area.
As of 10:30 p.m., the blast scene has been cordoned off by the police.
Journalists are not permitted to enter the area.
Footage and pictures of the scene have gone viral on social media. Some of the footage shows people panicking and running away from the terminal.
It is not yet clear where exactly the blasts took place, but circulating pictures suggest one of the explosions erupted at a motorcycle parking lot.
East Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Andry Wibowo earlier said at least three people were affected by the blasts. (bbs)
