he city administration will prepare five supporting terminals to service the Idul Fitri exodus, with the number of travellers expected to peak between June 22 to 24.
Jakarta Transportation Agency deputy head Sigit Wijatmoko said the five terminals were Pinang Ranti in East Jakarta; Pasar Minggu and Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta; Grogol in West Jakarta; and Muara Angke in North Jakarta.
“The operation of the five supporting terminals is intended to handle the soaring number passengers at the three main terminals. But the main services of intercity and interprovincial [AKAP] buses will be available at the three main terminals,” Sigit told kompas.com on Wednesday.
Jakarta has only three main operating terminals for the Idul Fitri exodus, namely Kalideres in West Jakarta and Pulogebang and Kampung Rambutan in East Jakarta.
He said further that his agency predicted there would be a two to five percent increase in the numbers of passengers during 2017 exodus.
The operation of the five supporting terminals is also intended to combat the presence of illegal terminals. (dra)
