he National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and several civil society groups have set up a joint fact-finding team to investigate the April 11 acid assault on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.
“It’s been two months and 10 days, but the case has not been resolved yet,” Komnas HAM commissioner Maneger Nasution said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.
Maneger argued that what happened to Novel was not an ordinary crime. Therefore, he said, it needed a special investigation that allowed the participation of civil society groups.
Among the members of the team are Bambang Widodo Umar, an observer of the police force, and former KPK commissioners Bambang Widjojanto and Busyro Muqoddas.
Representatives of civil society groups such as Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Jakarta) and the Foundation of the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute (YLBHI) are also on the team.
